On Tuesday night's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Michelle Obama (wearing a favorite J. Crew skirt) explained to the world that her marriage includes a musical element.Referring to President Obama's now-famous rendition of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," Leno asked the First Lady, "Did you ever think at this point in your lives together he [President Obama] would become a singing sensation? Did you ever think that would happen?" She responded, "No. No. Not at all. Not at all."Obama explained to Leno that the President's performance at Harlem's Apollo Theater was "completely spontaneous" and that she "didn't even hear about it until it got on YouTube." On the other hand, Nelson says that women who are her age and younger -- Generation X and Y -- look at her as a rock star. "She is the epitome of what black women want to be: she is affirmed, fabulous, fulfilled... she let's us know that we can have it all."

via Newsday: Michelle Obama will finally get her late night closeup: She'll be on "The Tonight Show" next Tuesday. It's a first for the First Lady, who apparently likes to go to bed early. She has never been on a late night TV show as First Lady, though did get on the late shows during the campaign four-plus years ago. Last stop here was Oct. 27, 2008.

Per NBC:The First Lady is expected to talk about her “Let’s Move” campaign, what life is like for her and her family in the White House and her upcoming book about the White House kitchen garden.

Among the topics discussed were her family, dating, cell phones and parent-teacher conferences. There was also a rare tour of the East Wing.

via Essence: Michelle Obama is officially on Twitter! Earlier today, an account run by President Obama's 2012 campaign staff, was created for Mrs. O. All tweets written by her will be signed "-mo."

Hours later, the First Lady tweeted her first message saying, "Hi, everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome. Look forward to staying in touch with you here. -mo."

The account has been live for a few hours and the First Lady already has close to 150,000 followers and counting.

With the announcement, celebrities immediately chimed in to tweet their support for her arrival to the social media site. Comedian Steve Harvey wrote, "Hello everyone! Let's welcome @MichelleObama to Twitter" while media mogul Russell Simmons tweeted "Welcome to Twitter @MichelleObama!"

But perhaps the most sincere tweet came from her husband, President Obama, who wrote, "It's not every day we get to welcome the First Lady of the United States to Twitter -- happy to have you."

So far, Mrs. Obama is following five accounts -- two of which are very dear to her heart -- President Obama's and Let's Move.

First lady Michelle Obama announced Friday she will visit Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa and Gaborone, Botswana on June 21-26, accompanied by daughters Malia and Sasha, and by her mother, Marian Robinson.

Obama's office said the trip will be a continuation of the first lady's effort to encourage young people at home and abroad, a traditional first-lady project which Obama has taken up with zeal. World travel also is traditional for first ladies: Obama has already picked up a slew of stamps in her passport, with visits to Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, India and Mexico, not to mention the glittering capitals of Europe. Obama hopes to underscore America's continuing interest in the success of African nations and strengthen historic connections between Americans and Africans.

And it will be a pretty cool vacation for already intrepid travelers Malia, who turns 13 on July 4, and Sasha, who will turn 10 on June 10.

As part of this special event, Mrs. Obama will host a daytime workshop for hundreds of students from California to New York on May 11th at 2:00 p.m. ET, where students will work with and learn from many of the evening's performers. First Lady Michelle Obama and administration officials will deliver brief remarks to highlight a new study detailing the importance of arts education. This event will be streamed live and students all over the country will be invited to watch the workshop.
